The Fiddler’s Point of View • North Country Collection features tunes long played (and new generation tunes) in the granges, dance halls, and house parties of rural Northern New York by many of the musician pictured below. In January, 2026 I began sharing one tune each week on youtube, facebook, instagram & tiktok. Once a month I featured some twin fiddling with my sister Rebecca! Some of these pieces are well-known in fiddle circles across the Northeast and eastern Canada, while others have not traveled far beyond our little corner of New York… until now.

This collection (which also includes tunes from my Irish, Quebecois, & Nordic collections) can be used in many ways. Personally, I began this series to prompt my own memory after saying, “how’s that tune go again!?” one too many times! Perhaps fiddlers will see a familiar tune and watch my fingers for minor embellishment ideas or double stop patterns. Perhaps fiddlers are just “shopping” for tunes and will use these recordings as a starting point to learn a tune (after my version is humming in their head.)
