FarPlay -blog

Hello from our homes in up & downstate New York!

As we begin work on Koehler & Kelly’s newest projet, Playing with Traditions,” our first thought is figuring out how to best create a new body of work while while navigating the pandemic. We’ve decided to try out FarPlay, a new state-of-the-art app which allows us to play together with ultra-low-latency. What that means is, unlike Zoom’s huge latency (sound delay) which makes playing together an impossibility, we are now able to make music …407 miles apart…over the internet.

After a couple tweaks/problem solving sessions, we’re happy to report our success with FarPlay! It was such a thrill to say “one and two and three and CLAP!!” and actually hear our sounds line up in unison. What a pivotal moment in audio technology! We are grateful for the possibilities FarPlay offers and look forward to enjoyable, productive rehearsals on-line.

We’ll keep you posted as this project’s compositions and arrangments take form.
